Amport & Monxton Fete – The Green, Amport, Saturday 6 July 12 noon – 4 pm

The Amport & Monxton fete is steadily approaching and planning is well underway.  Please put Saturday 6th July in your diaries and join in on what is shaping up to be a brilliant festival day for all the family to enjoy.

All your favourite traditional stalls are back, so have a go on splat the rat, the coconut shy, welly whanging, hook the duck, nerf guns, human fruit machine, beat the dealer, and much more.  The ‘Made in Amport’ stall was much missed last year so I hope you will be pleased to hear it is back for 2019.  The bric-a-brac, book and toy stalls are grateful for any donations and ‘donation stations’ will be popping up in the village bus shelters in June.

There is entertainment a-plenty this year, with gun dogs from Mullinscote, a hawk flying display from the Hawk Conservancy, tractor and pony rides, a classic car show with rides down the beautiful Amport House drive, and a brass band.  We have a bubble artist, magician, balloon modelling, glitter tattoo artist, face painting, as well as fantastic rides and games for all children to enjoy.  The village competitions return, with the horticultural show, an art competition and the best baked cakes in the village (competition this year will be held in the Amport School hall).  Look out for the horticultural show entry form in next month’s Parish News.  Delicious food will be served from the tea tent and our fully stocked bar will keep your thirst quenched.

As usual, after the fete, we will be having supper on the green with delicious food, merriment a-plenty, an auction, and dancing and partying into the night.

Fete prizes for the raffle and auction are always much needed, so if you have anything that you would be able to donate we would be hugely grateful and appreciative.  All funds raised from the fete go to our local churches, school and community projects.

Lastly, any other offers of help would be truly amazing and much appreciated.  There are always stalls that need to be manned for an hour or two on the day and much needed manpower to put up and take down tents.
