Come and feel our newly heated church!

Amport Church was packed full on the evening of Saturday 14 April for a very special event. The choir and accompanists of the Harmonium Singers, directed by Bruce Randall had come to perform a varied selection of classical works by composers such as Bach, Brahms, Handel and Vaughan Williams as well as well-known and not so well-known folk music from the 16 C to the 20 C.

The soloists were Emily Barber, who sang from the pulpit, and Victoria Warburton, and we were treated to three separate brilliant musical interludes by the duetists, Gwilym Stacey and our Rector, Peter Gilks, on two pianos. There was an interval when drinks and a variety of food were served, which was much appreciated by the audience. The event was held as a fund-raiser for St Mary’s Church Heating Fund and was so successful that we raised £1000 to go towards the cost of putting in an entire new heating system.
